2 weeks old today already!

The babies are 2 weeks old today and had another ck up with the Dr. He said they look great and are both gaining weight. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already. Now they won't have to go back until they are two months old! Mommy and daddy are doing good, just trying to get sleep when we can. My mom is still here helping (TONS!) and she leaves this weekend and then Brad's mom comes for a week. The time is getting closer to be on my own when Brad is at work and that thought is a little scary for me, so keep us in your prayers! Right now all I have time to do in a day is feed them and sleep it seems. Here are a few more pictures we took today before they went to the Dr. Ash was wide awake, but Lilly was a sleepy head.

LAST belly pic....and today's Dr. appt. update

Well folks , this is it! My very last belly pic (thank goodness). I was really not even wanting to take this one because who wants their picture taken when you feel this miserable! Just got back from the Dr. and here is the latest...babies look good with Lilly weighing approx. 5.8 and Asher a whopping 6.2! So the time has come...what we have all been waiting for!!! I am scheduled for a c-section (the Dr. said tentatively, but believe me, it's happening!) next Thurs. Jan. 11th. He is putting me on a steriod medication for 3 days to boost the babies lung developement then we go back in next Wed. morning to double check that it's still ago for Thursday. I couldn't have been happier to hear such news!! There is just no explaining how ready I am and the Dr. could for sure tell! He said 36 weeks will be fine for the twins, our goal was 37 weeks, but he said with the help from the steriods, waiting until the 37th week won't make that much of a difference. It's a balance of wanting the very best for the twins, which we do beyond anything else and knowing that I really am to the point where I can hardly move anymore. Brad and I are both so excited and overwhelmed at the same time, just knowing we'll see their precious faces next week! I wonder if they will look anything like I have tried to picture. Well, we'll talk to everyone soon! Keep us in your prayers!! Love to you all!

Thoughts from a Dad.
As 2007 opens up, I feel compelled to write a blog on my thoughts of impending parenthood! “Impending” sounds so foreboding doesn’t it? Tonight I was sitting next to Amy watching little bumps and bulges push from her stomach. Eventually I placed my hand on it, as I am usually drawn to do when I see the babies kicking around in there. For eight months now I have “watched” them grow via ultrasound and Amy’s ever-expanding tummy…I feel so close to them already. I know their names even now, before they do. Although there is still much mystery in the waiting, I feel as if I know everything about them. I wonder if they know my voice. Amy and I have read a few books now that recommend reading and singing to your un-born babies…so I have been reading and talking to them and yes occasionally singing a round of “Tomorrow” (from Annie) hoping…longing…for them to know my voice once they come into this great big world. So maybe they will recognize my voice as something familiar, comforting and someday know it as the voice of their father. It has struck me, how very much this must be like our own Heavenly Father’s thoughts toward us. He has known us before we were in our mother’s womb. YOU are known. There are 3,000,000,000 letters in the DNA code in every cell of your body. And no one's DNA is the same. That means that God has created you uniquely and “knows you uniquely”. There is no one like you and there will never be anyone just like you. Now here’s the mind blowing thing: the God of the universe, creator of all things who knows everything about you, has one desire…to be known by YOU. He is that still small voice you hear…longing to be known. -Brad

Christmas Eve with some more awesome friends...

Last night our friends Joel and Anita invited us over to spend Christmas Eve with their family. It was great spending time with them and their two daughters. We got to watch the girls open their stockings and a gift, so cute! They are such good friends and we love them dearly. It was great of them to invite us over to have dinner and share that night with us. We also got a huge surprise from them. This was waiting for us in their den by the Christmas tree, decorated by the girls with bowes and ribbons. Needless to say were were so surprised and so greatful. What a gift for the babies! So thank you so much to Joel and Anita and Joels mom and dad, we really still can't believe you guys did that.
I can't believe what awesome friends we have!

My friend Gina and her mom came over on Friday to give me a special gift! Some of you will remember writing a message to Lilly and Asher on quilt squares at my showers...Gina's mom made the quilts and I wanted to post a few pictures. These are so precious to me and I know will be to the babies as well. 8 years ago at Gina's baby shower, her mom had made one of these keepsake quilts for her daughter Ireland and at the shower I had said whenever I get pregnant I would love to have one! Well Gina's mom rememebered that all those years ago! I can't thank her enough, these are so special!! Also, Gina painted on the nursery wall for me. (Her and her mom are quite the creative duo!) Gina also made 2 scrapbooks for me that I will take pictures of and post to. Ok...so here is their handy work!

32 weeks! 5 more left...

Just returned from an appt. so thought I would give a quick update on the Beckey twins! First of all about mommy...the Dr. is putting me on medication to slow/stop the contractions and cramping I have been having. I haven't been having horrible ones or anything, just the braxton hicks, but more frequently. So just as a precautionary, because we need the babies to wait to come till 07, I start that medication tonight. He is still reassuring us he thinks the awaited moment will be the 2nd or 3rd week in January. Sleep is a thing of the past for me. I guess in one way it's good because God is preparing me for the sleepless nights ahead that come with having twins. I actually dread laying down and going to bed because the second I lay down I am uncomfortable! That's ok though! I am happy to be doing it for our babies! Daddy update...Brad has been sick since Thursday, so prayers for him are much appreciated. Ok...now for the wee ones. Although we got an ultrasound today, no ultrasound pictures to send out! Neither baby would turn their heads to get even a remotely good picture. The ultrasound tech tried and tried but their heads are just in a position that wasn't "facing the camera". They have shifted a little. Lilly is bottom down now, so she is totally breech. She is sort of diagonal in my belly with her bottom down and head up towards my right. Asher is still laying across my belly, head on the right and bottom on the left, so their little heads are together!! So not only were we not able to get a shot of their faces, but when she moved the ultrasound down and found a hand, little Miss Lilly was giving us the bird! Guess she told us! We are excited about how much they weigh now, Lilly is 4.2 lbs. and Ash is 4.9, so he passed her up again. We do have another appt. next Tues. AND another ultrasound, so maybe this one will be better and we'll have some pictures to share! Well...that's all for now, hope everyone has a Merry Merry Christmas and we'll miss seeing our family! We love you!

Monday morning...
Well, the day has arrived! My last day of work to finish growing these beautiful babies at home! It will be so good to just relax at home and lay around with my feet up. Monday morning will be very strange though when the alarm clock goes off for Brad and I realize I get to stay in bed! (sorry honey! I know you are so so happy for me though.) The babies will be here before we know it. Christmas is just around the corner so that will make it go even faster, then BAM! it will be time to meet our babies! It's hard to believe that something we have wanted and waited (and prayed for!) for 8 years is just weeks away. Brad was just saying last night that he knew all along that God had promised us a child and here He has blessed us with two! We couldnt' be more greatful, because I honestly don't know if we could have gone thru all we went thru to get pregnant again. God's plan is always perfect.
We had dinner last night with our awesome friends Russ and Lisa who moved from Nashville to Kansas City forever ago! We miss them so much , it was so good to see them. Lisa made the babies two CUTE blankets that were just precious! (thanks again Lisa, we love ya'll!) I love how everytime we see them it seems like no time has passed at all. We just pick up where we left off like they haven't been gone for years. Anyway....guess what? It's 5:00 and I'm outta here! Talk to everyone later!!

Only 7 more weeks...
Today I am 30 weeks! I remember thinking "I will not be able to believe it when I get to 30 weeks" and here I am...wow. I will be posting a 30 wk belly picture soon!! We'll take it this weekend and get it up. This belly of mine is really getting out of control, I know I will probably be eating my words here in a couple of weeks but Brad and I are amazed that I don't have stretch marks yet?? I keep looking for them every few days thinking...ok today is the day, nothing.....YET! It's way harder now for me to get out of bed, get up off the couch (almost always need Brad's help). Poor guy, he is so good to me, such a great husband. He makes my breakfast and dinner. Puts my socks on for me, well, helps me get dressed in general actually. I am quite the needy pregnant wife at the moment! Monday is my next Dr. appt. and I am hoping to get the date for my c-section. I won't be getting an ultrasound this visit, just the Dr. checking everything. Then Tuesday is our last birthing class and we'll get the tour of the hospital! Oh, I almost forgot!! There has also been a change to my last day of work from Dec. 15th to Dec. 8th! So next Friday is my last day. I don't think that has hit me yet at all. Well that's all for now...check back this weekend sometime for the new picture! (and I just realized in my last entry that I said I would get a 29 week belly pic up...sorry that didn't happen! I will get the 30 week up though, really!)

Dr. appt. on Nov. 20th...
Hi everyone, I hope that you all are excited about Thanksgiving coming up! I know I am just because of the 4 day weekend! We will miss being with family this year but our great friends Rob and Gina have invited us over to their house for Thanksgiving, otherwise it would have been Cracker Barrel! So thanks again Rob and Gina, we appreciate it so much. So....we had our appt. yesterday, the ultrasound was great, little Lilly has caught up to her brother and they both weigh about 3lbs 2 ounces!! Our precious little ones are getting so big! Lilly is no longer head down, she moved back to her original position, so they are both laying across my belly (back to bunk bed positions) with heads at opposite ends, so...c-section it is! He said with how big they are and getting, they probably won't move much from this position as far as being head down. So that being confirmed, is fine with us, we were sort of expecting a c-section anyways. Some new developments ...I am showing tiny tiny, small signs of pre-term labor, my uterus is contracting just a little because it thinks with how big it is , it's ready! He measured me and I am measuring what a full term pregnant woman would be with 1 baby....plus 1 month! so 10 months! The signs of pre-term labor are not bad enough for him to put me in the hospital on medication to stop it yet, so that is the good news. He says only about 2-3 more weeks of work for me so Dec. 15th will be my last day here at work. The Dr. said I will notice a big difference in my cramping that I am having if I get plenty of rest and put my feet up with this 4 day weekend coming up. I was trying to walk here at work on my breaks, but no more of that! It made me a little nervous to hear, of course that I am showing small signs of pre-term labor at 28 weeks, so I know we have lots of prayers being lifted up for us and please continue to do so these next few weeks. Ideally the Dr. wants them hopefully to make it to 37 weeks at least. So these babies have got to stay put for now! We believe and know God is completely in control and will see us and the babies thru all of this. We are so incredibly thankful and look so forward to what He has in store for our soon to be family of 4! Check back sometime this weekend for a 29 wk belly picture! Have a happy Thanksgiving!

... 28 wks today, the start of my 7th month!
It's hard to believe that today I started my last trimester. We are really enjoying feeling them move and bump around, which happens quite often! Pretty soon I think they will start running out of room and we may not feel them as much. With the holidays coming up, I'm sure it will make these last few months go by even faster and they will be in our arms before we know it! We washed a couple of loads of baby clothes, onesies, etc...last night which kept us smiling! It was fun to look at all of it and know we were getting them ready for the babies. It was still so unreal to hold stuff up that was for a boy AND a girl, every once in a while we still find ourselves asking each other "can you believe we are having twins?!" It's such a sweet thought, we love it! Well my next Dr. appt and ultrasound will be Monday the 20th. We are excited to see them again on ultrasound and hoping she does another 3D! I have read in my book the babies are around 3 lbs. at 28 weeks, so we will see if that is true with our little preciouse ones.
My friend Jenny sent me this quote...and I just loved it. "Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your
body." I just have so much love for these babies already. Well until Monday, you all have a great weekend! Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week??
Love to you

27 wk belly pics....

Here are some new pictures of the ever growing belly! I am constantly getting stuff on my shirts now, it has become an everyday occurrence from brushing my teeth in the morning and getting toothpaste on my protruding belly to eating, at least one meal a day will guarantee a stain! The nursery is now full of shower gifts that need to be organized, washed and put away and time is already flying! Sometimes I will look around at what all needs to be done thinking I have all this motivation and energy to do it, and then go lay on the couch instead! Oh there is a small bump in the road that we were made aware of last week in this otherwise greatfully, mild twin pregnancy of mine...I found out I have developed gestational diabetes. So tomorrow Brad goes with me to meet with a diabetes counselor to learn when, what and how much to eat, I have to totally change my diet as well as prick my finger 4 times a day to ck my levels. UGH! The day I found out, I really struggled with the news although I know it goes away in most cases after the pregnancy. I think it was just such a shock to me because everything has been going so well. But I soon realized after a few encouraging talks with family that it's not the end of the world and isn't as devastating as it seemed that day of finding out. I would still appreciate your prayers, I'm sure not looking foward to pricking my fingers 4 times a day! Love to you all!!!
