Mothers Day

My first Mothers Day! It was so special to finally be able to celebrate it! I got a much needed gift from the babies and daddy, a day at the spa!!! needless to say my back has never been the same since having the little darlings and they continue to wear it out! The babies were dedicated at church on Mothers Day so that made it extra special. It's still so hard to believe that I am a mom of two babies after waiting so long for just one! What a blessing! Also over the weekend we introduced cereal to the babies for the first time, here are a few pictures of that as well, Asher thought it was really funny that we were putting something into his mouth and Lilly spit every bite out!

Getting ready for Michigan

We bought the babies these sunglasses yesterday thinking the little band that goes around the head would be better then the normal kind that rest on the ears, but of course they are too big! I had to take this picture quick because Lilly was not at all happy about having them on! I hope she changes because I'm sure she will like it better if the sun isn't in her eyes. Anyway....every year over July 4th we go to Michigan to see my husbands family and have Christmas in July! It's really the only time everyone can get together (Brad has stepbrothers/sister in CA, Minneapolis and Chicago, and we are here in Nashville). So we head up to MI every year with Christmas presents and beach supplies, what a mix! His mom puts up a tree and everything, only the tree is decorated with red white and blue ornaments and flags! His parents live out in the country on a dirt road with lots of land to walk trails, go on jeep rides (I'll explain)....Jeep rides....Brad's step father mows these wide paths thru the fields and hooks a trailer up to their jeep and we all pile in the back of the trailer/wagon thing, padded with patio furniture cushions because the ride can be a little rough! And he pulls us around the property at a good speed. When you hear some one yell duck, you listen! It's usually just a tree branch or something you might have to dodge. So then after the ride is over we take our sore bottoms out of the trailer, brush of the leaves and go in side and check for ticks! Sounds fun huh? It's wonderful! Anyway, across the road is where Brad's grandfather lives on a private lake with a beach area, which is where we spend most of the days swimming, canoe rides, paddle boating, etc....with a bunch of his family. Then on or around July 4th we have our own, very impressive, I will add, fireworks show over the lake. (We sometimes have to do a little dodging with the fireworks too!) We are soooo excited to have the babies this year and for most of the family, it will be the first time they see them. They will be a big 6 months old when we go and we are curious to see how they like the water and sand. Should be lots of fun things to video tape. One of my favorite things is to walk back to Brad's parents house after the fireworks when it is really dark. We take one of the paths that have been mowed thru the field and their are hundreds of lightening bugs twinkling all around you, it looks so cool!
